How it reaches Plex
A browser extension, not a rebuild of your ERP
DataMagik Automate installs as the datamagik extend browser extension. Once it is signed in, the automations you have configured appear as buttons on the Plex screens they belong to — so a new capability arrives where the work already happens, rather than in another tab someone has to remember.
Nothing about Plex changes. There is no customisation to maintain inside the ERP and nothing to un-pick if you stop.
What a button can do
Six kinds of action behind one click
- Run a script — server-side logic against Plex data, including generating a document or printing a label.
- Call a webhook — any external API or internal endpoint, GET or POST.
- Look up a table — show customer settings, product reference data or anything else held in a User Defined Table, without leaving the screen.
- Navigate — jump to the related record, report or external system.
- Open an application — launch a DataMagik application straight from the extension.
- Ask the assistant — hand the screen to DataMagik AI and ask about what is on it.
Why it stays cheap to run
It fires on the event, instead of polling for it
Most “real-time” ERP integrations are not real-time at all — they are a job that asks the same question every minute, forever, and occasionally gets a new answer. That costs transactions whether anything happened or not, and it still leaves a gap between the event and the reaction.
Automate works the other way round. The action runs when a person acts, or when a webhook arrives, so it executes only the transactions the work actually required — no constant polling, and no waiting for the next cycle to come round.
For work that genuinely is time-based, schedules exist and run on their own; polling is a choice you make deliberately, not the default cost of integrating.
