People, devices and printing
People, devices and printing
Link people to their Plex users and badges, register and revoke shared handhelds, reset PINs, and map zones to printers.
These are on the web under DataMagik Mobile → People and devices, and in the app on Me for Mobile Admins (People, Devices and Printer zones). Both need DataMagik Mobile - Mobile Admin Settings.
Plex users: who Plex records
Each change a person makes goes into Plex under their own Plex user number where the Plex data source accepts one. DataMagik looks for it in this order:
- The person's Plex user at that site, set under Shop Floor → Setup → Write outbox → Operators (Plexus user number). Use this when people have different Plex users at different plants.
- The person's Plex user on DataMagik Mobile → People and devices → People (Plex user (PUN)), for every site.
- Neither: the change runs as the site's Plex integration user. DataMagik's own record still names the person.
Splits, merges and maintenance requests are refused until a Plex user is found, because Plex must record who made them.
People
The People card lists your company's active users, with Name, Plex user (PUN), Badge and PIN.
- Enter the person's Plex user number, and a badge number if they will sign in on a shared handheld.
- Press Save: Saved {name}: Plex user {n}, badge {b}.
- A badge belongs to one person: that badge is already someone else's.
- Badges are for floor accounts only: badges are for floor accounts: this person needs a Mobile role and no platform permissions beyond it. See Mobile roles and permissions.
- The badge barcode can carry the number on its own, or as BADGE:number or BADGE-number.
Reset a PIN
The PIN column shows Set or Not set, never the PIN. Press Reset PIN, then press again to confirm. The person sets a new PIN on Me → Set my PIN. A reset also clears a lockout after five wrong tries.
Shared handhelds
Register a handheld once, and from then on people sign in by scanning their badge. Personal phones do not need registering.
Register a handheld
Do this from the app on a second phone, so you can show the code to the handheld:
- On your own phone, signed in as a Mobile Admin, open Me → Devices.
- Under Register a device, enter a Name (for example Dock 3 handheld) and its Zone or door, choose Shared, and tap Register a device.
- A QR code appears. It is shown only once, so leave it on screen.
- On the handheld, sign in as a Mobile Admin, open Me and tap Set up as a shared device.
- Scan the QR code with the trigger or Use camera. The handheld shows This device is now shared: {name}, signs you out, and shows Scan your badge. Tap Done on your phone.
The handheld uses the zone you gave for printing and directed work, and starts in glove mode. The Devices list shows each handheld's zone, when it was last seen, and whether it is active.
A badge sign-in
- Lasts at most one day, and ends after 10 minutes with no touch.
- Ten unknown badges on one handheld within 5 minutes block it for a few minutes.
Revoke a lost or retired handheld
- On the Devices card, tick Wipe if you also want to clear the app's data on it.
- Press Revoke, then press again to confirm.
Anyone signed in on it is signed out within about 5 minutes. Wipe also deletes, from the DataMagik app on that device, scans not yet sent, the saved plant and zone, cached menus, Assistant conversations and the put-away cart. It does not reset the rest of the device. A revoked handheld cannot be brought back; register it again.
Printing
The phone prints to the zone the person sets on Me → My zone, or the zone a shared handheld was registered with.
- On the Print zones card, type a zone or door name in New zone and press Add zone.
- Add its printers with Add printer, and put them in order with ↑ and ↓.
- Press Save zone: Saved zone Dock 3: prints to Zebra-1 → Zebra-2, in that order.
The first printer online takes each job; the rest are fallbacks. A zone saved with no printers is removed. Printers come from Printers. If a phone's zone has no printer, the person sees no printer serves this zone; ask your Mobile Admin to set one.
Container label reprints are printed by Plex on the printer Plex uses for that label, not by the zone.
