RFID

Read every tag in range, tag a container, die or place, and check what crossed a dock door.

RFID works on Android handhelds with an RFID reader or sled set up to send tag reads to the app, such as a Zebra handheld with an RFD40 sled. Your IT team sets this up; see Scanners and handhelds. iPhones cannot read RFID.

Open Inventory, then RFID. It shows the tasks your role allows.

Read tags

Everything the reader sees, and what it is.

  1. Hold the reader toward the tags and pull the trigger. Sweep across the load.
  2. The list grows with each pull, ignoring tags it already has: {count} tags · {known} known.
  3. Each tag shows what it is (a container, master unit, die, cart, bay, tote or location, and which one) or Not tagged to anything.

Clear the list starts again. The list holds up to 2000 tags. Reading changes nothing in Plex or DataMagik.

Tag something

Read the tag, then scan the label beside it.

  1. Read one tag. If the reader picks up several, move closer: Read one tag at a time to tag something.
  2. Scan the barcode label beside it. The app fills Which one (serial, die, place) and picks the kind for you. Or pick the kind yourself: Container, Master unit, Die, Cart, Bay, Tote or Location, and type which one.
  3. Tap Save the tag. The app shows ✓ Tag … is now Container SJ008486, for example.

Tags are saved in DataMagik, not in Plex. Who can tag what:

  • Containers and master units: Inventory, Shipping or Directed work roles.
  • Dies: Tools and dies or Maintenance roles.
  • Carts, bays, totes and locations: Mobile Admins.

Saving a tag again as the same kind moves it to the new item. Changing a tag to a different kind needs a Mobile Admin. Container labels printed with DataMagik RFID inlays already carry their serial and are recognized without tagging. Tagging needs a connection.

Dock door check

Is what crossed the door for this truck? Needs a Shipping role.

  1. Scan the door label (DOOR and a number) or the trailer number. The app finds today's open shippers at that door: DOOR 3 · 2 shippers.
  2. When it says Read the load at the door, point the reader at the load and pull the trigger.

The result has three lists:

  • On the truck: loaded on these shippers in Plex and seen by the reader.
  • Not for this truck: seen, but not on these shippers. A flashing red banner warns Wrong door: {count} containers are not for this truck, with the refused sound. Take them off.
  • Expected, not seen: loaded in Plex but not read. Find them before the truck leaves.

Another door starts again with a new door.

Auto-load

If your company has turned on auto-load at the dock, containers that are on a door shipper's pick list but not yet loaded are loaded for you instead of being flagged. They are listed under Loading, and all of them wait 10 seconds together with Undo all {count}. Undo only works within those 10 seconds and on this screen: moving on to another door, a new read or leaving the screen sends them at once. After that, each is loaded onto its shipper in Plex as though you had scanned it, with the same checks. With auto-load off, the app says Auto-load is off for this company: scan to load.
