Boards and screens

The built-in Shop Floor boards, how to find them, and how to register your own screens.

Permissions: DataMagik - Viewer and DataMagik - Builder can open the built-in boards. The Asset Health boards also admit DataMagik - Maintenance and need the Asset Health licence. Only a Builder can open Screens to register, turn off or delete a screen.

Finding the boards

  • The Shop Floor menu in the top navigation lists Overview, Plant Readiness, every enabled board, the Write Outbox, the Asset Health screens (when licensed) and a Settings group for setup.
  • The Shop Floor home page (/shop-floor, Overview in the menu) is a launcher. Under Boards, each card says what the board is for and where it works best, such as TV, Tablet at the station or Desktop. If your company has more than one site, pick one in the Site list at the top. Every board you open from the launcher then starts on that site.

If the home page says No screens are registered yet, a Builder can press Open guided setup. Guided setup on Workcenter types registers the built-in boards.

The built-in boards

  • Plant Overview: your plant on a map, showing what is running and what is down, zone by zone. It works on a phone, a tablet or a TV. It uses the maps and dashboards drawn on Plant maps. Without a map, it lists machines grouped by line. A dashboard can show PA alerts, and the screen then jumps to the machine's map.
  • Floor Console: status, production, scrap and schedule panels with the plant map and an AI assistant (Ask about the floor), for a desktop. Each panel is filled by the Plex data source bound to it under Console Settings. It re-reads every 30 seconds, and viewers share reads, so extra viewers cost no extra Plex calls.
  • Live Board: every machine as a tile, updating the moment its status changes. It works on a TV or a phone.
  • Hour by Hour: one machine's day, hour by hour, for the operator standing at it. It is built for a tablet at the station. Operators capture the reason for a missed hour or a stop here. A status change is queued to Plex through the Write Outbox and is not sent immediately.
  • Pace Board: each line against its target, hour by hour, built for a TV. Filter it by line to cover part of the plant.
  • Active Issues: what is wrong and unexplained right now, oldest first. That includes machines in a downtime status, finished hours that missed their target with no reason, and reason writes that have not reached Plex. A row leaves the list when somebody explains it. Tick Include what has been explained to see those too.
  • Shift Handover: the shift that just ended, with its balance, its downtime and what is Still open for the next crew. Summarise the shift running now covers the hours worked so far in the current shift.

Several boards have a Kiosk button that switches to wall mode: larger type, no filter controls, and a Leave kiosk link to return. To keep a board on a TV permanently, use Displays instead.

Asset Health boards

With the Asset Health licence, five more boards appear in the launcher and in the Shop Floor menu under Asset Health.

  • Portal: every alarm and fault across the plant, with the KPIs and top causes.
  • Lines: each line's stations in order, with their health and the alarm on each.
  • Assets: the equipment tree with each asset's health, sensors and photos.
  • Insights: open insights to inspect, note and turn into Plex work requests.
  • Analytics: availability, top faults and signal history from your historian.

See Asset Health for how to use them.

The Screens registry

Every board is a row in the screen registry at Setup menu → Screens (/shop-floor/settings/screens). The registry shows what is registered, what renders each screen, and what is switched off. The Shop Floor menu, the home launcher and display rotations all read from it.

  • Built-in screens are marked built in. You can Turn off a built-in screen, which removes it from menus and stops it answering. You cannot delete one, and its address stays reserved. Turn on brings it back.
  • Screens you register can be turned off or deleted. Deleting one frees its address so it can be registered again.
  • Open opens a screen at /shop-floor/screens/address.

Register your own screen

You can register a screen that shows one of your own App Designer applications, so it sits alongside the built-in boards in the menu, on the launcher and on wall displays.

  1. Open Screens and press Register a screen.
  2. Enter a Title (for example "Line 3 Andon") and an Address (for example line-3-andon). The address becomes part of the screen's URL.
  3. Choose a Surface: wall for a TV, station for a device at a machine, or console for a desk.
  4. Choose an Archetype (live_act, ritual, analyse or context) and a Scope (site, area, line or workcenter), describing how the screen is used and what one instance of it covers.
  5. Under Renders, pick the application. Only your published custom single-page applications are listed. If you leave it as the placeholder frame, the screen is registered and shows a placeholder until you point it at an app.
  6. Press Register.

Built-in screens are drawn by Shop Floor itself, so they cannot be pointed at an application.

If an app is deleted: a screen pointing at a deleted application answers not-found. The registry flags it with "The application this screen points at no longer exists". Pick another application on that row and save.
